On December 16, 2024, Hong Kong's Food Safety Centre proposed amendments to the Food Adulteration (Metallic Impurities) Regulation. The update includes 27 new metal content limits for specific foods, aligned with Codex Alimentarius and standards of major food-importing countries. Nine existing limits will also be updated, increasing the total content limits from 144 to 171. Public feedback is invited until February 16, 2025.
