The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) is a key regulation for consumer product safety in the EU. It is to be implemented from 13th December 2024 and it is replacing the current General Product Safety Directive and the Food Imitating Product Directive.
The GPSR aims to protect consumers by establishing a harmonized framework through the EU Product Safety Regulation, ensuring that products placed on the market are safe to use and do not pose risks to health or safety. It provides obligations requiring responsible behaviour from businesses involved in placing products on the market facilitating the free movement of safe products within the EU market.
