On October 3, 2024, the Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS) published an invite for the public to comment on eight draft evaluation statements that cover 1,100 chemicals and provide safety information about the use, import, or manufacture of industrial chemicals by November 29, 2024.

The eight draft evaluation statements address the following topics:

  1. 1H-benzotriazole and its mono-substituted derivatives
  2. Phenolic benzotriazoles
  3. Tellurium and its inorganic compounds
  4. Extracts and essential oils are primarily composed of methyl salicylate
  5. Benzoic acid, 2-hydroxy-, 3,3,5-trimethylcyclohexyl ester (homosalate)
  6. Chemicals not considered for in-depth evaluation—not commercially active in Australia
  7. Chemicals that are unlikely to require further regulation to manage risks to the environment
  8. Phenol, 4,4'-(1-methylethylidene)bis- (Bisphenol A)

The chemicals covered in this draft evaluation are used in cleaning products, laundry and dishwashing products, personal care products, fabric, textiles, and leather products.
