EPA Seeks Public Comment on PFAS Production Regulations in the United States

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking public comments on the production of specific per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), including PFOA, PFNA, and PFDA, that occur during the fluorination of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and other plastic containers. This request for input follows the Agency's approval on July 10, 2024, of a TSCA petition submitted on April 11, 2024, which urged the EPA to regulate these substances under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) due to their presence in various household, agricultural, automotive, and industrial products.Comments must be received on or before November 29, 2024.
