Chemical Registration Australia - Overview
Any product that is accustomed by consumers is made up of chemicals. Chemicals used in consumer products are subject to stringent chemical regulations in Australia.
Consumer products containing chemicals that do not fit within any specific categories (cosmetics, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or food) are classified as general consumer goods.
The Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS) replaced the National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (NICNAS) on July 01, 2020, as the new national regulator of the importation and manufacture of industrial chemicals in Australia. The goal of AICIS registration is to make it easier for companies to import low-risk chemicals that are new to the Australian market.
