Indonesia’s Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) released a public explanation regarding the results of its supervision and follow-up on cosmetic relabelling issues. BPOM addressed concerns raised on social media about the circulation of relabelled cosmetics. After inspecting facilities and related parties, BPOM found no evidence of cosmetic relabelling activities, but identified cosmetics circulating in the market that did not match the notification data and were not produced by the authorized industry. These violations, which are repeat offenses, pose risks to cosmetic quality and safety.
BPOM clarified that the production and distribution of cosmetics that do not comply with notification data violate BPOM Regulation Number 21 of 2022 and BPOM Regulation Number 25 of 2019, with potential health risks. As a result, BPOM imposed administrative sanctions on business actors, including the temporary suspension of cosmetic procurement, distribution, and promotion activities, as well as the revocation of distribution permits. BPOM has also ordered the withdrawal and destruction of non-compliant cosmetics.
Currently, BPOM is investigating the matter and will pursue law enforcement if criminal activity is discovered. BPOM encourages the public to follow its ""CekKLIK"" campaign to check packaging, labels, distribution permits, and expiration dates before purchasing cosmetics. BPOM also urges the public to report any suspicious cosmetic production or distribution activities.
List of cosmetics produced by manufacturers that do not comply with the notification data and have had their distribution permit number/notification cancelled are:
1.GODDESSKIN Stretch marks
2.GODDESSKIN Night Acne Gel
