Thailand Introduces Draft Guidelines for Evaluating Cosmetic Ingredients

On February 27, 2025, Thailand's Ministry of Public Health released a draft regulation for public consultation, titled "Criteria, Methods, and Conditions for Evaluating Academic Documents in the Cosmetic Review Process." The consultation period runs until March 13, 2025. The draft aims to address gaps in evaluating new cosmetic ingredients with no prior use history. It outlines the process where academic documents will be assessed by experts registered with the Thai FDA. The Thai FDA will review applications, verify document accuracy, and compile evaluation results. This regulation introduces a standardized approach without imposing additional burdens on businesses. Once finalized, it will take effect the day after its publication in the Government Gazette.
