The UK issued a notice regarding the impact of its accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) on Certificates of Free Sale (CFS) for cosmetic products. The UK's accession entered into force on December 15, 2024, with Brunei, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, and Vietnam, and on December 24, 2024, with Australia.
As a result, CFS are no longer required for marketing, distribution, or sale of cosmetics in these countries. However, Canada and Mexico have yet to ratify the UK's accession, meaning pre-CPTPP rules still apply for exports and imports to those markets. A further notification will be issued once they complete ratification.
