The National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) issued Resolution RDC No. 963, amending Resolution RDC No. 326/2019, which established the positive list of additives intended for plastic materials and polymeric coatings in contact with food. The amendment incorporates Resolution GMC/MERCOSUR No. 22, dated September 11, 2024, into Brazilian law.

The updated resolution introduces new substances to the positive list of additives with specific restrictions on their use and specifications, as detailed in Table 1 of the Annex. These include guidelines on the permissible concentration levels of substances like silver-magnesium-sodium-boron phosphate and diethylaminoethanol. The amendments aim to enhance the safety and regulation of food-contact materials.

The new rules are effective as of the date of publication, February 21, 2025.
