The U.S. State Commission for Commerce and Consumer Protection (CPN) voted to pass a bill SB504 that would expand the ban on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) by prohibiting the manufacture, sale and distribution of any food packaging, catering utensils, cosmetics or personal care products containing PFAS from December 31, 2026. HB748 is the measure that complements SB504, and it goes into effect on July 1, 2050.
