IARC Evaluates Carcinogenicity of Talc and Acrylonitrile

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has published a study on the carcinogenicity of talc and acrylonitrile in The Lancet Oncology. Acrylonitrile, a high-production chemical used in manufacturing, poses occupational exposure risks through inhalation and skin contact, particularly in production industries. Talc, a hydrated magnesium silicate, is used in various industries and consumer products, and can be exposed to the general population through body powders, ingestion, inhalation, and skin contact.
