- Class III Devices: These are the highest-risk devices, and they are often the ones that sustain or support life, are implanted, or present a high potential risk of illness or injury. Class III devices are subject to the most stringent Regulatory controls, including general controls and the US FDA’s Pre-market Approval (PMA), which requires a review of all available scientific evidence to ensure the device’s safety and efficacy.
