Philippines FDA Circulates Updates and Amendments to the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive (ACD)

On July 03, 2024, the Philippines Food and Drug Administration circulated "Updates and amendments to the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive (ACD)" as adopted during the 38th ASEAN Cosmetic Committee (ACC) meeting and its related meeting.

Following are the list of updates and amendments to the ACD:

• 1) Amendment to annex VII withrespect to Benzophenone-3
• 2) Inclusion of substances that must not form part of the composition of cosmetic products
• 3) Inclusion of UV filters that cosmetic products may contain
• 4) Recognisation of Diethyltoluamide as in INCI ingredient in the EU CosIng
• 5) Rectification of ACD annexures with respect to deletion of formaldehyde (Annex VI), benzoic acid derivatives (Annex IV), mercury (Annex II) etc.,
